This made them hard to manage, but with the development of the integrated circuit, the electromechanical type of business telephone systems was replaced by the electronic types. These electronic systems not only removed the bunch of wires with thin, compact and light cable wires but also they were fast. This system had lots of other features associated with it which included automatic answering machine, far-flung supervision of entire office setup, automatic and efficient call accounting, effortless speed dialing, services for caller identification, and selection of signaling sounds. Apart from this there were additional features that could be supplemented and developed by using software. Also the use of incandescent light bulbs was replaced by led’s with these systems. These business telephone systems could be shared type or unshared type depending upon the requirement.
The system
The business telephone systems consist of a central system that manages and operates various telephones and makes it possible to share information over different lines. The basic type of such system is PABX, private automatic branch exchange. The function of this exchange is to manage different incoming and outgoing calls in an office and business environment. These PBX’s are different from the usual keys systems in the fact that they manage the outgoing telephones calls automatically instead of manually as in key systems, while the hybrid system is a combination of both of these systems.
The PBX’s systems are cheaper in cost than the hybrid systems. The hybrid system is a modified form of the PBX system and can work both on analog and the digital type signals. The contemporary key system that uses the hybrid format is usually makes use of only the digital formats and are hence more widely used because of their speed and accuracy in transferring information. The hybrid business telephone systems are very widely used in the financial industry in the trading floor. The only basic use of such hybrid system is the use o f a PBV for transfer of voicemail to and fro from backroom staff.
Usage
Although these business telephone systems are basically employed in large offices but with the development of new and cheaper technologies, these systems are also becoming popular among the various small scale offices as well. These cheaper business telephone systems though are small and work with the analog systems but are able to provide similar features as the hybrid system.
